- Relaxing with Buff & Butter and Organic Aromas...

You only need to take a look at my sporadic blog posting lately to realise life has got super busy for me. Gone are my days of planning blog posts way in advance, having a strict schedule, perusing Twitter as and when I want and, perhaps the one I miss the most, reading all of your guys' blogs! I used to feel so up to date and really enjoyed reading about the happenings in your life, latest beauty releases and all of the current trends; whether it's the latest shoe to rock or avocado concoction to munch on.

Despite missing my more frequent, present blogging days, I'm still happy. I'm lucky enough to say I work full-time in a job I love. In a city I love. I'm learning things I'd never thought I'd learn and can see in myself that I'm growing as a person. So, whilst I get back into the swing of things with my little space here on the Internet, I'm going to make sure I'm not too harsh on myself. I'm definitely a big lover of relaxing (who isn't?!) and have always been a big believer in having some me-time now and then.

With my now busy lifestyle relaxing is even more important to me, and it's to the point where I'm tempted to pencil in slots into my diary solely dedicated to painting my nails or doing a face mask. In the past few days I've delved into a whole new world of relaxation: aromatherapy and essential oils.

In all honesty I know very little about essential oils and my experience with them is minute, but when Buff & Butter offered to send me some I couldn't help but be intrigued.

When it comes to scents, I'm a big fan of pretty much anything as long as it's not sickly sweet. Therefore, when I browsed the wide range of Essential Oils on offer, it definitely took me way longer than it should have. As I love floral, fresh, fruity, woody scents I decided to go for a mixture to cover all bases and suit all moods.

I opted for Ylang Ylang and Rose Geranium for floral additions, Grapefruit and Eucalyptus for more refreshing, revitalizing options and Lavendar to help calm me after a stressful, long day. I had heard of adding a few drops of essential oils into your bath tub (which I've been doing a lot), but also took to my good friend Google for other uses and wow, there's so many! Add drops to your laundry, moisturiser, cleaning products; the list goes on!

Funnily enough, as my package of oils was out for delivery, I was contacted by Organic Aromas. I hadn't heard of them before so I clicked on their website to find they do the most beautiful oil diffusers - what a coincidence! I immediately said yes as I couldn't wait to try it out with the oils.

Already big in the USA, Organic Aromas are wanting to spread word of their amazingly designed diffusers over here in the UK. I was generously sent the Raindrop model which isn't only effective, but also a great decorative piece.

As you can see, it arrived beautifully packaged with the wooden base and glass reservoir treated with evident care. Organic Aromas also sell essential oils and the package contained a bottle of their Signature Blend. I'm yet to try this out as I was too excited with the arrival of the other ones, but it smells heavenly from the bottle.

The diffuser couldn't be simpler to assemble and once plugged in you just need to add 5 or so drops into the glass reservoir and then adjust the switch to your preferred option. When I first tried it, I was surprised to see it features a mini light inside which gradually changes colour. This is such a lovely touch and adds to the relaxing aspect - particularly when using it at nighttime. With soothing scents and lights, this is my new go-to way of switching off!

What's your favourite way of using essential oils? Have you tried a diffuser before?

  1. I've never really got into aromatherapy or using essential oils before, as I find a lot of the scents too strong and botanical for my taste. Instead, I always relied on scented candles But, I've never thought of using a diffuser with them and it sounds like it really does make a difference to relaxation levels when you need a bit of chill-out time. It's actually a really nice piece to have on display, too!
