- Prom Queen ft. boohoo...

I've noticed a pattern in my wardrobe; for months I'll be missing a particular item and then suddenly said item starts taking over my collection. That's definitely been the case for me and maxi dresses, and this post features my latest addition - this time with an added special twist.

I've teamed up with the babes at boohoo as part of their Prom Queen campaign. Boohoo is a brand that's always been on my radar, but whilst browsing their occasionwear I was surprised at just how many I liked. With Summer weddings, graduation ceremonies and proms, Spring seems to be the time of year our dress hunts commence.

Thinking back to my fashion choices for both my school proms aged 16 and 18 does make me cringe a little, but at the time they were what I liked and I felt happy in both dresses, which is the most important factor in my opinion (let's just be thankful my fashion sense has somewhat developed). Unlike others in my school year, I was against forking out hundreds for a one-off dress that resembles something off Big Fat Gypsy Weddings.

That's why I'm so thrilled to be a part of boohoo's campaign: affordable, elegant dresses. You want to feel like a lady on your prom night and in my eyes, there's nothing more classic than black lace. The Veronica Lace Insert* maxi dress (£25) instantly drew me in with its flattering style and lace panels.

The material is figure-hugging (in all of the right places) and the two side slits add a lovely flowing detail. Black lace can be seen as a strong Autumn/Winter choice, but I'm a firm believer in a timeless black dress. To make it more seasonal to Spring, I teamed a smoky eye with a fresh, pink lip rather than a vamp, berry option.

I'm still pretty shocked that this dress is only £25; the fit is perfect and it feels a lot more expensive. It's also available in Navy and Stone if you'd rather save black for Winter months.

If you're in need of a formal dress this year, I can't recommend browsing boohoo's range here enough!

What do you think of this dress? Have you got any special occasions coming up?

  2. This dress looks amazing on you! I was the same with my proms and didn't spend loads of money on my dresses so I'm definitely all for the affordable option (although wish I'd gone for something like this rather than what I did go for haha)
