- Sunday Summary: New Year, Same Me...

Welcome to my first post of 2016! As you can probably guess, the title is from possibly the most cringeworthy expression: New Year, New Me. I think I felt some vom arise just typing that.

Regardless of the date, I'd still be posting one of my summary style posts as it's been a while since I last did one, and most of you seem to enjoy having a nosy at what I've been up to lately.

I've never been one for setting New Year's resolutions. I find that they're all talk and no action. People seem to set themselves up for failure. I joined the gym in November (because I had been wanting to join one for ages but was waiting to move flats, because I enjoy exercising and because I don't need it to be a new year to join...), and I'm certainly not looking forward to the annual swarm of people.

Each to their own I guess, but be realistic. Do things because you want to and because you enjoy them, else they're going to become a chore and something you abandon within a month.

Instead, I prefer to reflect on the year, and I have to say, 2015 has probably been one of the best. I'm happy, in fact I'm not sure if I could be happier, with where I am job-wise, blog-wise and in life overall. I love living in London and love making mine and Rob's flat a home - 2016 will be hard to top it!

So here's what I've been up to lately...

Both me and Rob prefer to go out and do things together rather than swap gifts with eachother, and now we're living in Central the list of things to do is endless. We spent the weekend before Christmas mooching around Covent Garden, admiring the London Christmas decorations and dining at a yummy Italian restaurant. We then spontaneously decided to see a show and thankfully managed to get tickets for Matilda the Musical - our top choice, eep! It was so, so good, like probably the best thing I've seen!

As Christmas loomed nearer, me and Rob went our separate ways to spend the festive period at our family homes. When catching my train from St Pancras, I stopped to take a picture of the Disney Tree. Yep, a tree made entirely of Disney toys - amazing!

I've decided not to do a 'What I got for Christmas' post, not because I don't like them as I've loved looking at other peoples', but presents aren't really a huge thing in my family and I don't really want them to be a focus if that makes sense?

My family clearly know me well though as I received some lovely bath time treats, plus my end for some black ankle boots is finally over. I've been searching high and low for literally months and months. I thought my request of a slightly pointed toe (but not tacky level) with a chunky heel (but not too chunky) with the right cut on my ankles (not unflattering across my calves) wouldn't be too much to ask. Fussy? Me?

These are the Kurt Geiger Carvela Topaz boots, and I'm in love.

And lastly, to end 2015 with a bang I've been made a graze* amabassador! I've loved these handy snack boxes for years now, so couldn't be happier to get more involved with the brand!

I hope you enjoyed this lifestyle post and catching up with what I've been up to. Don't forget, I regularly post images like this to my Instagram feed if you'd like a more live update....

  2. Oh wow I LOVE those Kurt Geiger boots! I totally agree about not believing in the whole new year, new me thing. I wrote a bit about that in my latest post. I also love what you wrote here: 'Do things because you want to and because you enjoy them' it is so true and there is no point trying to completely re vamp who you are because it is a new year, it is never going to last!

    Happy New Year!

  6. Happy new year to you, Karen and I 100% agree that doing things when we feel like it instead of setting resolutions for the new year, glad that I'm not the only who felt that way.

  7. Couldn't agree more on the New Year Same You concept here, because it's true! It's important to set yourself realistic goals, the smallest changes can make the largest differences.
It's important to be happy and to live life with a positive attitude :)

  11. Karen, that Disney tree! I love it, if I'd have known it was there I definitely would've taken a trip just to snap a picture haha! I'm totally planning to see a musical this year as I haven't since I arrived in London (oops!) and I love Matilda so this sounds like a good shout. Congrats on becoming a Graze ambassador too, I used to order Graze when I was back up north and I just requested all the desserts haha - Happy New Year by the way! xx
