- Sunday Summary: Home, Eats & The 'Skinny Rebel' Workout...

It's time for another summary post. I've really been enjoying incorporating this lifestyle series into my schedule, and I now feel happy with the balance of fashion, beauty and lifestyle content I publish.

As someone who reads a lot of blogs, I love getting an insight into what a person gets up to in their time away from the screen (me? nosy? ;)), so I wanted to provide just that for you lovelies here reading this.

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you probably see what I've been up to from when I post live content, but for those of you who don't, here's what I've been doing recently...

Last weekend, I left the Big Smoke behind and headed home for a relaxing few days. When people ask me whether I prefer the city or countryside, I'm honestly stumped. I love the constant buzz and 'the city that never sleeps' vibe, but there's something about being able to take a step back, inhale a deep breath of fresh air and reflect on things. I'm so lucky to have a balance of the two in my life.

I spent some quality time with my parents and we headed out for a meal to one of the local pubs. Now I say pub, but this place really is more than that. It's the perfect juxtaposition of traditional rustic and modern chic. With antique surroundings and comfort levels high, the food is the next level up from your traditional pub grub. I chose the salmon ravioli followed by Baileys cheesecake, which were both Also, can we take a moment for some #bathroomappreciation? How many old, country pubs have bathrooms like that?!

Sticking with one of my favourite topics, #foodporn, I met up with the lovely Katy & Jasmin for an evening of pizza & wine. I had been wanting to try Homeslice for yonks, so was super excited when the day finally arrived. It's a place many bloggers/vloggers rave about a lot, so I wanted to put it to the test myself. We headed to the one in Neal's Yard (they've recently opened up another), which is such a quaint and pretty place in central London.

We ended up having to wait well over an hour which was really frustrating, but the pain was eased slightly with a free drink. If you're planning on going, definitely get there early or avoid peak times. The three of us decided to share two large pizzas; we opted for: aubergine, cauliflower cheese, spinach and harissa, goat shoulder, savoy cabbage and sumac yoghurt, chorizo, corn and coriander (my fave), and peppers, chervil and Lincolnshire poacher.

All four flavours were really good, but I'm not sure I'd rush back there. Don't get me wrong, it's up there in my favourite places for pizza, but doesn't earn my top spot. Nevertheless, good food, wine & blogging buddies = perfect evening!

Now as some of you may know, I've stepped up my fitness game this year and have managed to stick at it. If anything, I'm more into it than before and am so proud of myself for continuing. I boulder, run and practice yoga on a regular basis, so when Dean from Train Dirty London contacted me to give the 'Skinny Rebel'* workout a go, I thought why not.

They work alongside the luxury Conrad London St. James hotel and offer one on one training sessions. As you can see from the image, what makes the Skinny Rebel workout unique is that an altitude mask is worn in order to restrict oxygen levels, and subsequently make your body work harder. Sounds freaky, right?!

But also exciting and intriguing. Once I had got used to having the mask on and the breathing, the session began. And oh boy, it was hard. After less than ten minutes I was sweating like a P.I.G. It's a full body, high intensity workout lasting around 45 minutes. I was such a cripple for the following two days, but kept on telling myself "no pain, no gain". I left the hotel on a high and felt happy I had been motivated and pushed.

After the workout, I had planned to go out for dinner with some friends. We decided to try out Steam & Rye, located nr. Bank station, as they have an amazing unlimited rib and shrimp offer on Tuesdays for £18.95. I think I deserved that after the intense workout, right?

I hadn't really thought much about what Steam & Rye would be like, but it definitely exceeded my expectations. There's an incredible buzz and atmosphere inside, with a rodeo, heavy bass and waitresses dressed in cabaret attire. I didn't include too many photos of the food because I was thinking of you vegetarians/vegans out there, plus a pile of ribs and shrimp tails isn't exactly #foodporn, right? It did, however, cause a #foodgasm.

We had booked a table in advance so were led to a different room away from all of the action, which felt nice and exclusive. As you can see, the walls were covered in different clocks, to which my friend said, "Errm, has anyone got the time?!" - actual cry laughter for minutes from me!

What do you think of this summary post? Let me know in the comments below!
