- Base Products: Out With The Old, In With The New?...
Whilst I love, and I mean love, experimenting with different makeup brands and products, there are some things where I take the stance of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. I've been using the same base products for months & months now, and the thought of mixing things up hadn't crossed my mind. That is, until recently... You may have seen a BB cream and face powder in my latest BonjourHK haul. When I first saw them, I wasn't sure what to think. Could anything beat my trusty combination of Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream topped with Rimmel Stay Matte powder?! Well in short, yes. Yes it can. That's not to say I've gone off the Bonjour 123 Perfect CC cream (£9.99) offering though. It's thin, it's lightweight, it covers imperfections and lasts a full working day without touch-ups. So why have I been preferring the WOWWOW Weightless BB Cream (£7.33*)? As you can see, the formula is less fluid than the Bourjois offering, but surprisingly it blends easier. They both share the same pros, but the WOWWOW version seems to offer more that little bit more with added SPF 30 protection and natural essential rose oil. It seems to treat my dry/dehydrated skin at the same time as enhancing and colour correcting it. If you're a lover of dewy skin, you'll love this. It's provides the perfect 'glow from within', which I can't get enough of. As for powder, I've repurchased the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder (£3.99) for years now, as it seems to work the best out of the affordable ones I've tried and tested. It offers great coverage, keeps shine at bay and does the overall job wonderfully. However, I'm pale (I'm talking ghostly pale) and often think even the shade 'Transparent' looks a little too warm on me. Which is where Club Cosmetice Skincare Powder (£7.97*) comes in. This powder is definitely a gem for us paler ones. Plus, like the BB cream, it contains rose which gives it a wonderful uplifting, feminine scent whilst providing some goodness to the skin. You'll also see that a sponge applicator is included, which I surprisingly use and find effective. It's a lot thicker and structured compared to other flimsy ones. If you're more towards the oily side of things, perhaps stick to Rimmel Stay Matte, but if you're like me, this works wonders! So there we have my new holy grail base products. I still love my previous must-haves and can't see me saying goodbye to them fully anytime soon, but there's no harm in mixing things up afterall, right? Have you tried any of these base products? Let me know in the comments below! *Products marked with an asterix (*) have been gifted. I only feature products/services to my personal taste and all opinions are 100% my own.
