- June Picnic Degustabox...

June Picnic Degustabox

Another month, another Degustabox*! If you haven't seen my previous posts about this subscription box, Degustabox is a monthly service full of food & drink goodies. At just £12.99 (inc. delivery), it's a great way to explore different products you might otherwise bypass. There's usually 9-14 surprise items, most of which are new to the market.

Initially when I opened this box, I noticed how many snack items there were, with a lack of the usual cooking cupboard staples. I then realised that this month has a picnic theme - perfect for this recent gorgeous sunshine! I think this is a great idea for a themed box, as picnics and country walks are one of my favourite ways to spend relaxed sunny days.

As always, Degustabox have kindly provided me with a discount code to share with you: simply type 'BI49Q' when registering to get £3.00 off!

So what's included in the Picnic box?...

June Picnic Degustabox
Brioche Pasquier PITCH Chocolate & Chocolate Chip, RRP: £1.70 (each)

Included was a 6 pack of brioche with a dollop of gooey chocolate in the centre, plus a 4 pack of chocolate chip brioche rolls.

I absolutely love brioche and have previously warmed it up in the microwave for a few seconds; however, because these are individually wrapped, I've been taking them into work. I've scoffed my way through them all now, and it's safe to say my love for brioche has heightened.!

June Picnic Degustabox
Melba Thins Multigrain, RRP: £1.39

The Original Melba Thins were included in the February Degustabox, so I was super happy to see a Multigrain version in this one.

I definitely prefer these ones and have been enjoying them with many different toppings, such as: peanut butter, cream cheese & salmon, and avocado & feta. The toppings are pretty endless, and I think these fit perfectly with the picnic theme!

June Picnic Degustabox
Kallo Corn & Rice Snacks, RRP: £0.70

It's great to see the rise of gluten-free brands available at the moment, one being Kallo. These corn and rice snacks are the perfect healthy option and don't leave you feeling stodgy at all. The sea salt and vinegar flavour isn't too overpowering and I find these a lot more moreish than Snack a Jacks.

June Picnic Degustabox
Kallo Rice Cake Thins, £1.69

From the same brand are these rice cake thins topped with Belgian milk chocolate with caramel pieces. I would have never thought that this combinations would have worked, but it really does! They're the perfect mix between sweet and salty - just make sure you take a cool box on your picnic!

June Picnic Degustabox
Coconom Organic Coconut Sugar, RRP: £3.25

I was really excited to see this included as it's a completely natural alternative to your typical sugar. It's made from coconut tree blossom sap and can be used as a replacement in many things: smoothies, baking, hot drinks etc. I've been wanting to sprinkle some over porridge, but it's not really been porridge weather here in the UK so it will have to wait!

June Picnic Degustabox
Love Chin Chin, RRP: £1.00

This is a really interesting snack that's popular in West Africa. If you're a cinnamon fan, you'd love these! Their aim is to be a biscuit, but taste like a cake and I can definitely confirm this! They're super crunchy (perhaps a little too much), but soon soften and provide a powerful burst of flavour. There's also vanilla, lemon and chilli flavours available!

June Picnic Degustabox
Zeo, RRP: £1.29 (each)
Vybe Juice, RRP: £1.89
Rekorderlig Strawberry Lime Cider, RRP: £1.49 per bottle (4 pack)

As you may already know, Degustabox often offer an 'alcohol' and 'non-alcohol' box. For June, the drinks on offer are Zeo, Vybe & Rekorderlig.

I'm not a huge fan of fizzy drinks, but if you are, then Zeo is a great fruity addition and have under 30 calories per bottle. I received the lemon and peach & grapefruit flavours, which I did enjoy swigging during the heatwave!

Next is the Vybe coconut water. I'm still unsure about coconut water. I made the mistake of glugging the real deal when I was travelling in Sri Lanka and since then, the bottled/cartoned stuff hasn't come close! I really want to like it though, cos HEALTH, so managed to glug this across 3 days.

The last drink was a Strawberry & Lime Rekorderlig - my joint favourite flavour along with the Pasisonfruit one. In my opinion, this is a fridge essential over Summer (and the rest of the year). Sorry, what? Who said that?

Icycl Vodka Apply Icepop, RRP: £2.50

Lastly, was this vodka apple icepop. I do think these are a great idea and it was super refreshing, however, I found the taste of vodka slightly too much, although this could be because vodka isn't my favourite spirit (much more of a gin girl). I think I'd rather keep my drink separate from my ice cream but I appreciate the uniqueness!

  1. I used to have those brioche when I was a child, I'd forgotten all about them! They were the biggest treat for a weekend breakfast, straight out the microwave. Those chocolate rice cakes look lovely, too!

  8. It's a great idea to have the theme this month picnic orientated considering the gorgeous weather we've had. I've actually had an alcohol ice lolly before (Mojito flavoured) and it was really nice, I think if the balance is right it can be super refreshing x
