- Top Makeup Brushes: Spectrum Collections...
If you had asked me a few years ago which makeup brushes I swear by, your answer would have been Real Techniques. Whilst I still remain a fan, it occurred to me that my answer was because I hadn't really tried anything else. Over the past year or so, I've noticed another brush brand has been taking over my brush collection. Enter Spectrum Collections. Whilst nothing is yet to replace my RT buffing brush (a blending dream), every other brush I use on a daily basis is from Spectrum Collections. Not only do I love the look of the brushes and their performance, but also the effort the brand make on social media to interact and build relationships. As a social media addict, this really adds value to a brand in my opinion and makes them stand out even more. If you've been with me on my blogging journey from the start, you may have seen my post last Summer on one of their limited collections here - excuse quality, blogging is a learning curve ;). This set contains some amazing face brushes and was the start of my love for Spectrum brushes, leading to me continually recommending them to others. You can then imagine how excited I was when I was contacted by them wanting to add to my collection, especially as today's my birthday *happy dance*. Just when I thought they couldn't get any better, they did. This time round I was sent a gorgeous range of eye brushes, plus a fan brush which I've been after for so long - the perfect addition to my face brushes. If you aren't already aware of Spectrum brushes, they're all about vibrancy, colourfulness and adding some brightness to your everyday tools. I was very kindly sent the: (L-R) • No. 1 Fan Large Fan* • Best Face Forward Dome Contour* • Blending Friend Tall Tapered Blender* • Eye Spy Small Angled Blender* • Pretty as a Petal Tulip Eye Contour* • Short 'n' Sweet Short Smudge* I honestly couldn't be more pleased with this set and am so impressed at the quantity of brushes Spectrum have available. What I love about makeup brushes is that you don't necessarily have to stick to their 'label'; you can make them work for you and experiment with which product you find they work best for. For instance, I've been using the large fan to apply bronzer with the tip, as it's the perfect angle to achieve the 'chiselled' look, but have also been using the fan shape to apply highlighter. As for the eye brushes, I've been applying eye shadow over the lid using the small angled blender and adding a darker shade to the outer corners with the tulip eye contour. I've then blended the two shades together with the dome contour and applied highlighter to the brow bone and inner corners with the tall tapered blender, as the bristles are less dense. Lastly, I use the short smudge with its intended purpose of adding darker shadow along the lower lash line. What impresses me the most about these is the quality for the price (these ones here range from £3.99-£9.99). Another plus is that they're vegan and animal friendly as they're made from synthetic hair, which is outstandingly soft. The brushes pick up the perfect amount of product allowing you to create a soft look, or build-up a bolder look. After having the previous set for around a year now, I can confirm they wash perfectly and return to their original softness. For me, these brushes really are an everyday essential. I'm so pleased to welcome more to my stash and definitely have my eye on others! Check out this #GlamClam set, how beautiful is that case? SO tempted. What do you think of these brushes? Have you heard of Spectrum collections before? *Products marked with an asterix (*) have been gifted. I only feature products/services to my personal taste and all opinions are 100% my own.
