- Nude Nails: Drugstore to High-end...
I'll admit, I have a slight nail polish obsession. During my late teens I was incapable of going shopping without adding to my stash, and at Uni, I was the person people came to when they were after a specific shade for their outfits. Whilst I have pretty much every colour in the rainbow and adore brights, I've recently been drawn to nudes. There's something really chic and classic about nude nails. They add a splash of elegance to any outfit, and I can see why they're currently on-trend. There's a wide range of hues out there, such as vanillas, cappuccinos, caramels and mochas (yum dessert), and here are my most reached for. L-R: Rimmel Sweetie Heart in 001 Cheeky Girl*... From the fairly new Velvet Matte Pastels collection, Cheeky Girl is an almost white shade with a hint of baby pink. Rimmel don't lie when they claim this is matte, if anything, I find it a bit too 'chalky'. Unlike most polishes, it doesn't glide on and is more of a 'dabber'. Having said that, once you've made the application work for you, it's a gorgeous shade when on. Nails Inc. in Sao Paulo Street... This was a magazine freebie last year with InStyle, you may have seen this year's in my recent post here. Sao Paulo Street is a gorgeous nude shade, I'd say it's a grey-beige/mink colour. I'm a big fan of Nails Inc. polishes but do find a top coat is vital to prolong wear. Barry M matte in 339 Vanilla... Unlike the first Rimmel polish, I feel the Barry M matte collection has 'matte' down and provides the desired finish. Vanilla isn't chalky at all and instead, provides the perfect muted look to nails. The shade is perfect and matches the name wonderfully; this matte range definitely impress when it comes to being chip-free too. Barry M gelly hi-shine in 423 Almond... Another favourite nail polish formula is the Barry M gelly hi-shine. The finish of these really do give off a dazzling shine and they're great for drawing attention to nails. Almond is another gorgeous shade that's every so slightly 'warmer' than vanilla. Dolce & Gabbana in 220 Perfection*... The most 'caramel' shade in my collection is 'Perfection'. Whilst I do truly think this shade is that, I feel they could have had a bit more fun with the shade name. Despite that, this is a stunning colour on and surprisingly compliments all skin tones. The formula is actually very similar to the gelly hi-shines, giving off a gorgeous sheen. As expected from a D&G polish, the packaging feels super luxurious and the lace detailing on the cap adds to this. Dreading the price tag?
