- Avenue 32: Oliver Peoples Sunglasses...
You know when you walk into a store, get immeditaely drawn to an item, feel an emotional attachment, excitedly try said item on, trot towards a mirror, to then be faced with sheer disappointment because you look and feel like a right plonker? Yep, that. Far from ideal. We've all been there, and this is something I often experience with headwear. Some people just seem to suit every hat out there; damn you all and your stylish fedoras. The same can be said for sunglasses. I'll usually spend about two minutes trying on a few pairs before getting in a huff and puff and giving up. Well, I've decided 2015 is the year to find THE pair, and it's about time I got to it with Summer approaching. Gone are the days of grabbing a random £1 pair from Primark for an upcoming festival and not giving two hoots about them. I'm on the hunt for the staple pair, the pair that actually protect my eyes from the sun, the pair that suit me, the pair that tick the fashionable box - the crème de la crème. So many celebrities and fellow bloggers look effortlessly cool in their shades and are a constant reminder of what a chic piece they are. They can bring an outfit together, add an edge, and hide the 'I drank two bottles of wine last night' evidence. For those who aren't graced with the skill of pulling anything and everything off, like myself, searching for sunglasses is a complex task and requires patience - #thestruggleisreal. The thing is, there are actually many factors to consider, and when you want to make an investment, you want to get it right. "Is bigger really better or will they drown my face?" "What style will suit me?" "Do I want a cat-eye or something more discrete?" "Do I want a simple black frame or something a bit more out there?" "Oooh lenses, what about coloured lenses?" AHHHHHH! SO. MANY. QUESTIONS!
1. // 2. // 3. // 4. // 5. // 6. // 7.
So I began my search where a plethora of information is accessible and where most people start nowadays: the Internet. After exploring what was out there, I was introduced to Oliver Peoples and asked to feature their pieces. I instantly agreed as I had fallen in love with all of their designs. Known for their luxury sunglasses, Oliver Peoples are available to peruse and buy from Avenue 32*. With fans such as the Queen Beyoncé and Angelina Jolie, this is a much-loved brand not to be bypassed.
The styles are modern, sleek and classic. Based in LA, the founder, Larry Leight, ventured down the eyewear path in 1986. Seeking creativity and freedom, his designs centre around looking stylish yet being high quality at the same time. More recently, Oliver Peoples have extended their chicness into the world of fragrance by partnering up with Byredo, and have collectively connected sight and smell. You can read more about the collaboration in a recent feature by Vogue here if you wish.
I strongly feel that sunglasses can either make or break a look, and these certainly would make it. Take a look for yourself at the models above; I STILL can't decide which pair are my favourite. Possibly the Tortoise Cat-Eye pair, but then I can't forget the Indigo pair either?! Decisions, decisions...
Hopefully my hunt for the perfect pair will soon be over, and I'll be able to join the effortlessly cool hide hangover clan.
Which brand is your favourite for sunglasses? Have you heard of Oliver Peoples before?
