- Makeup Revolution: Iconic Pro 1 & 2 Palettes...

So you may have seen that a week or so ago, I struck extremely lucky and won one of Superdrug's recent Instagram competitions. I won a ridiculous amount of beauty bits (which you can see here) and I still don't think it's quite sunk in. To my delight, several Makeup Revolution items were included, which I happily welcomed into my beauty stash.

Celebrating their first birthday a few days ago, Makeup Revolution are, in my opinion, the go-to brand for affordable makeup. Dubbed the queen of dupes, it's refreshing to see so many releases that are purse-friendly without compromising on quality. Today's post features their Iconic Pro 1 & 2 palettes which cost just £6.99 each.

ICONIC PRO 1:

This palette is a well-known dupe for the Lorac Pro palette and it doesn't disappoint. The first thing I noticed that ticked the box was the absence of yet another shoddy sponge applicator. Why these are still made is beyond me, and I was thrilled to see Makeup Revolution have included their own 1989 double-ended eyeshadow brush to replace them.

As you can see, the top eight shadows are matte and the bottom eight are shimmers. I find the layout of this palette really clever as the bottom shimmer shades match perfectly when blended with their corresponding matte shades. There's no reason why you should stick to the pairings of course, as this palette includes 16 wearable shades that all compliment each other. Not only do the colours themselves impress me, but also the names: Ghost, Dawn and Enigma being favourites.

ICONIC PRO 2:

With the Iconic Pro 1 being the cheaper alternative to the Lorac Pro palette, Makeup Revolution stuck to tradition and created a dupe for the Lorac Pro palette 2 with this Iconic Pro 2 palette. I honestly can't decide whether I prefer the shades of this to the Pro palette 1 or not. I love how Makeup Revolution include all wearable shades as there's nothing worse than buying a palette for, say, 4 out of the available 10 shades.

I absolutely adore the purple (One Way) and blue (New Rules) shades and think they'd also look great worn along the lower lash line. Again, Makeup Revolution have come up with creative names and I really can't fault these palettes. Arm swatches are not my forte, but I really do think it's better to include how the shades look in a blog post. I'm pretty sure you'll be seeing makeup looks from me in the future using these palettes.

What do you think of these palettes? Do you own either/both?

  6. Makeup Revolution always have the best dupes and even though I've already got the original Lorac palette I'd love to get my hands on the Iconic Pro 2 as it's supposed to be a dupe for Lorac 2 and the shades are gorgeous x

  7. I saw that win on Instagram, I was so jealous.
The palettes are so beautiful, but I am the same. I want to be able to use the whole palette, not just one or two.

  8. Congrats again on winning, Karen and you got yourself a box of goodies! I personally will get Iconic Pro 2 for myself because it's unlike any palettes that I owned. However, knowing myself? I'll probably get both! LOL!

  12. I need to invest in a palette, at the moment I have so many loose individuals it takes up so much space. Both palettes have loads of lovely shades. Blue is a great colour at the moment Lucy x

  17. Ah I love Makeup Revolution eyeshadows so much. I spent ages trying to decide between the Iconic Pro 1 and Iconic Pro 2. I decided on Iconic Pro 2 in the end and I really like it but now I want to try the other haha. Although from the look of your swatches, I have too many similar colours to justify it!

  19. I have the Makeup Revolution dupe for UD Naked 3 and love it, I tried my friends Naked 3 and there was barely any difference in quality. I think I prefer the first palette here, because I'm a wimp when it comes to eyeshadow and the shades are all super wearable. I think blue and purple along the bottome lash line would look good though!

  21. I've joined the Makeup Revolution, too as you know I'm now a proud owner of the Death By Chocolate palette. Can't wait to use it, it is still unused so I can admire it for longer. Looking at the pro palettes makes me excited, too. The shades look fantastic, one of my favourite is the dark blue one from the second one.
