- Top 5 Lipsticks: From Neutral to Berry...

For today's post, I wanted to break down key lipstick shades and show you my number one choice for each. This will be really useful if you're just starting a lipstick collection and unsure which product to go for, or if you're wanting to branch out and add more to your pile. This post will consist of my favourite nude, pink, coral, red and berry lip products.

NUDE: MAC Patisserie
This is hands down my everyday lip product. It's the perfect 'your lips but better shade' and doesn't dry out the lips. Before purchasing this, I assumed the MAC Lustre finish would be too sheeny for me, but this adds just the right amount of colour.

PINK: Revlon #225 Sultry
This matte balm is the perfect dusky rose pink. I prefer this tone as I'm not really a fan of 'barbie' or 'bubblegum' pinks as I find I can't pull them off. I've seen a few people be put off by these Revlon lip crayons due to the slight peppermint scent, but I'm really not a mint fan and have no issues with it. After years of automatically reaching for reds, I need to expand my collection of pinks - next on my list is the MAC lipstick in Mehr.

CORAL: MAC Vegas Volt
My go-to Summer shade! From the 'Amplified' range, Vegas Volt is bright, vibrant and perfectly pigmented. The formula is creamy and I like how the coral shade has a hint of pink, rather than being overly orange. I'd definitely recommend this shade if you're wanting to branch out into corals but not sure if to brave it!

RED: Rimmel Kate Moss #107
Hands down the most talked about and sought after drugstore lipstick. This cool-toned lipstick suits all complexions and is the perfect sultry red. This is a great one to start with if you're getting used to rocking a red lip; I need to experiment with warmer-toned ones to see if I can make them work for me.

BERRY: Maybelline Color Drama #310 Berry Much
This was my most worn A/W14 lip product. It's surprisingly hydrating, gives off impressive pigmentation and has high longevity. I'm not aware of many deep berry drugstore lip products, but I'd definitely recommend this if you're searching for one.

What do you think of my top 5 lip products to cover all bases? Let me know in the comments.

  5. Wow - so many lovely shades! They all look uhmazing on you. I lusted after Berry Much all Autumn but always missed out on it when I tried to pick it up. I've previously toyed with the idea of Vegas Volt too; however it always looks super orange when I swatch it and so I've kinda shied away from it. Love this idea for a post though, great job Karen! xxx

  8. You have such a good selection of lipsticks. I am in the middle of starting a small lipstick collection of my own and the first one I purchased was the Kate Moss 107! I really want to get more mac lipsticks but I find them so expensive. I guess I need to start saving!

  18. I saw this on your IG and I knew I had to hop over here for a read! I have Vegas Volt but darn it looks so weird on me. :-( I need to play around with the makeup so it'll look good but if I wear it on its own, just downright weird.

I have yet to see Maybelline Colour Drama here! It's terrible and I am tempted to order online.
