- The Blouse...

Blouses are probably my favourite piece of clothing. Whether they're long-sleeved, short-sleeved, sheer, cropped, you name it; they instantly add a smart touch to an outfit. They can transform the most casual looking outfit into something a bit more formal. As they're such a versatile and timeless item, I thought I'd show you in today's post the types of blouses I think are a staple for any wardrobe.

WHITE BASIC:
No wardrobe should be without a plain white/cream blouse. They're suitable for both work and play, and are a key piece for the androgynous trend. I currently have this floaty, sheer cream one from Topshop, but I'm on the search for the perfect crisp white one that's more fitted.

BLACK BASIC:
As well as a white blouse, I believe a black one is also an essential. Again mine is a sheer one, but this time it's short-sleeved. It also has horizontal scalloped pleats, which I think are a lovely detail and makes it a little different!

COLOURED:
Once you have white and black covered, it's time to get colourful. Whilst I haven't exactly picked the brightest blouse to photograph here, I love this pastel blue shade at the moment and it's very apt for the upcoming Spring season. I purchased this only a week or so ago from H&M, so it should still be in store.

PATTERNED- STRIPES:
In my opinion, there are never too many striped items in a wardrobe, and a striped blouse makes it even better. The nautical trend is a classic and I don't ever see it going out of fashion. You can see me wearing this blouse here. PATTERNED- POLKA DOTS:
As well as stripes, another classic print is polka dot. I think they provide a fun twist to an outfit and I'm a big fan of this black & white one from Forever 21. It also has a slightly dipped hem, which I think is a great little alteration.

So there we have it, my five key blouses.
Are you also a blouse lover? Let me know what you think of these ones in the comments below.

  22. I LOVE blouses but really struggle to find one that suits me. I'm small in the boobs but have quite big hips, so finding one that doesn't swamp me AND doesn't cling to my belly/hip area is an absolute mission!

Love the polka dot and blue ones here :) might pop into H&M tomorrow and see what I can find! xx

  33. How refreshing to see a pretty young lady, who actually looks like a young lady. Not covered in body graffiti, make up not plastered on, hair a normal colour and dressed in a fashion that used to be known as "normal" or "classy". Keep up the good work!
