- February Degustabox...

If you're a regular reader of my blog, you'll know that I display the contents of each Degustabox every month. However, due to a bit of kafuffle and the January box being hugely popular, the February* box is my first box of 2015!

If Degustabox is new to you, it's a delivery box service containing 9-14 surprise food & drink items, many of which are new to the market. It's a great way to discover new items and encourages you to try out things you perhaps wouldn't pick up yourself. The boxes cost just £12.99 each and luckily enough, I have a £4 (! - usually £3) discount code to share with you - simply type 'KRSDB15' when you register. Let's see what the February box contains!

Melba Thins RRP: £1.39

I love things like this as they're perfect for any time of the day and go with so many items! I've been having them for lunch with cream cheese & salmon, snacking on them with some brie, and even dipped them into some tomato soup. You get 10 packs which contain 6 thins, which I think is great for just £1.39!

Whole Earth Three Nut Butter RRP: £3.00
Peanut Hottie RRP: £3.00

If you know me well, you will be aware of my love for peanut butter! It's up there in my top favourite foods and not only is it tasty, it's also pretty good for you! I usually stick to the typical peanut butter so when I saw this Whole Earth 3 Nut (with cashews, peanuts & hazelnuts), I was really pleased and it definitely doesn't disappoint!

Continuing on with the peanut butter theme is the tub of Peanut Hottie. A hot peanut butter drink? I think heaven just welcomed me in -*brb* off to indulge. This is so tasty and a great alternative to hot chocolate. Although having said that, I've also seen a peanut butter & chocolate version floating around which I must also try asap!

Schwartz Flavour Shots RRP: £1.40 (for two)

Flavour shots and other various cooking sauces/flavourings are often included in these monthly boxes. Schwartz are well known for their scrummy recipe bases so I was a happy chappy to see these included. They're great to have lying about in the cupboard for days when you want something quick and easy, and you may be surprised what you create when using these with bits you need to use up. There's a wide range of flavours available and the ones I received here are ones I'd happily use!

Beet It RRP: £1.85 (for two)
Jack Link's Beef Snack RRP: £1.39

Next, are these Beet It pro-elite bars! This is probably the product that intrigued me the most this time round. A beetroot and oat flapjack, this sounds just my sort of thing! As well as these bars, there's also a shot drink available which I'd definitely like to try. A leaflet from this brand was added, informing that either one of these bars or the drink are the perfect pre-workout snack as they contain natural dietary nitrate which converts to Nitric Oxide - this in turn responds to the demands of the body, leading to a boost of stamina, increased blood flow and speedy recovery, to name a few. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I often go bouldering, so I'll definitely be munching one of these before I next go. Also listed was evidence from lab based research, which I found really interesting - definitely a brand to research further!

Another item that's good if you're one who regularly works out and/or looking for healthier snacks is this Jack Link's Beef Snack. I'm not 100% sure what this is, but no matter how many times I try beef jerky, I just can't bring myself to like it. I'm sensing this snack bar is a similar item, so this is definitely one I'll pass onto the boyfriend - who eats so much beef jerky I worry he'll soon turn into some #gainz #IncredibleBulk...

Laimon Fresh RRP: £1.99

Time for the disappointment of this month's box. For someone who doesn't consume a huge amount of fizzy drinks anymore (unless it's alcohol & I'm in party-goer mode) and who doesn't really enjoy mint flavoured things, this Laimon Fresh was a big no-no. I like that the ingredients are 100% natural and can see why some people would enjoy this drink, but personally, I would have much preferred a juice/smoothie item.

Lily O'Brien's RRP: £2.60
American Muffin Company RRP: £2.50

This photo should be captioned 'NOM', because, well, that says it all. The Lily O'Brien's Cocoa Cookie Crunch certainly didn't last long. This pouch of moreish goodies are the perfect pairing with a cup of tea. The chocolate was just the right level of sweetness and there's the perfect amount of cookie pieces. Lily O'Brien's website is definitely one to check out, if you're a huge chocolate lover like myself.

Lastly, are the American Muffin Company Chocolate Chip Mini Muffins. I was surprised by how much I like these because despite loving chocolate, I tend to prefer blueberry or lemon muffins! These muffins are delicious though and remain fresh due to their individual wrapping, which also makes them ideal for taking to school/work. I'm also super pleased to see that they're gluten & wheat free - not that this is vital for me personally, but seeing more things like this on the market is great!

Overall, I am once again pleased with the Degustabox service! I recall January's contents being all about healthiness and making healthier lifestyle choices, what with the plague of New Year's resolutions and all, so I get the impression the general theme of this month's is all about treats? Personally, I'm not sure how I feel about this as I think maintaining a balance is the best way, rather than having so-called 'cheat' moments? Having said that, there are only a few items that could be classed as unhealthy and it's evident that they've made an effort to incorporate healthier snack items to the box. Peanut butter, beef snacks, melba thins and the beetroot bars are great alternatives to the usual junk food we're all guilty of reaching for!

What do you think of this month's box?
Don't forget to use the discount code above to get your first box for just £8.99!

  2. Hi Karen,

Happy Thursday, hope you're ok today! Thank you so much for sharing so many delicious treats this morning. I've heard and seen the Peanut Butter Hottie a few times online by various bloggers. This would be something for my Alex I think, as he loves Reese's Peanut Butter cupcakes. Do you know they've teamed up with Krispy Kremes? Anyway, getting sidetracked. Hope to speak soon xxx
