- Makeup Revolution Focus & Fix Eye Primer Matte...

Eye shadow primers are a product I've only started to hear about recently and, in all honesty, my initial reaction was that they seemed like a pointless extra step to anyone's routine. However, with the popularity of Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion combined with the fact that Makeup Revolution, who have taken the blogosphere by storm this past year with their vast range of products and appealing prices, have released a much more affordable version, I thought I should at least give one a go.

Makeup Revolution have got three eye shadow primers to offer - Original, Brighten (aimed for metallic shadows), and Matte (aimed for matte eye shadows). Makeup Revolution are well known for their cheap prices and these are no different, costing just £2.50 each. As you can see, I tried out the Matte* version.

The doe foot applicator allows easy, delicate and direct application to the eyelids. The product applies beige and a small bit goes a long way; I simply dab a tiny bit on using the applicator and then massage it in with my finger tips. I found that this was the best way to coat lids and create a smooth, even surface for eye shadow.

I'm actually really surprised with this product; it provided the perfect base, doesn't cause creasing and did seem to extend eye shadow wear. I would definitely recommend incorporating an eye shadow primer into your routine if you're on the go and taking your makeup through from day to night.

What do you think about eye shadow primers? Are you a Makeup Revolution fan?

  1. I've not really tried many eye shadow primers and have just gone with the whole face primers instead but this looks really good so I might have to go and give it a go. I've tried a few things from Makeup Revolution and all of them have impressed me!

  7. I feel as if one thing really missing for the drugstore/highstreet shops is eye primers! They have some great face primers but I've only ever tried one drugstore eye primer and didn't particularly like it so I'd love to try this! Great post x

  8. I heard good things about the MUA one, but didn't really like it that much. I really like the ELF one, which seems to be a cult product in the beauty blogging world. I might give this one a go though, as matte shadows can be tricky to work with and to stay on the lid ><

  10. I love my UD primer, it has changed my views on eyeshadow primers cuz when I have it on my eye makeup just lasts all day, it's amazing. For £2.50 it's worth a try but it would have to be more then amazing to have me stepping away from my loved UD version x

  13. Never tried this one, and to be honest never found myself using eye shadow primers.. but I guess it would work really nicely for those who apply a full eye makeup on a daily basis! Nice review!
