- Product Focus: Primer...

Primer is one of those products I used to ignore and tended not to use. I guess I didn't know much about it and deemed it pointless. However, this year I've seen & read a lot about many different ones and my interest grew. Whilst going through my stash of products, I realised I now have quite a few so I thought I'd share my thoughts on them.

L'Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Primer £9.99
This primer provides a subtle glow and illuminates skin. The product comes out as white, but it rubs into skin effectively leaving no residue. It is advised to apply this is a '3' shape from your forehead, to your nose and then to your chin in order to highlight bone structure. I love this product as I'm a fan of 'dewy' looking skin.

ARK Skincare Protector Primer £36
I received this product as it was part of the goodie bag at the wonderful #InsideOutBeauty event during #LFW. I find this primer really hydrating and a perfect base for make up. More importantly, it contains SPF 30 which is a huge bonus as it protects skin from UVA and UVB rays.

Pixi Flawless and Poreless Primer £20.50*
I wouldn't say this product glides on as such, but once it is applied and absorbed into skin it really works! Pores appear to be less visible and I can confirm that it increases the longevity of make up.

Benefit POREfessional £24.50 (22ml)
For me, this primer leaves my skin feeling the softest and most velvety! This is the UK's No.1 best selling primer and I can see why as it does conceal pores and feels really lightweight on!

L-R: L'Oreal, ARK, Pixi & Benefit

Overall, I don't dislike any of these primers and would recommend all of them! I would say choosing a primer completely depends on what results you're after. As you can tell from this post each one of these primers has a plus point, whether it's luminosity, protection, longevity or texture. It's safe to say, I'm now a primer convert!

Which primer do you use? Have you tried any of these ones?

  1. I love the Porefessional for pore smoothing, but find it can be a bit chalky sometimes. The pixi primer sounds good, I like when products have high SPF because I never wear suncream day to day!

  4. I've only used POREfessional out of all of these, but I'm tempted by the Pixi one as well! I don't really like wet primers like the first two though because my skin is oily enough as it is and it just doesn't feel right putting foundation on top of something that feels like a moisturiser, but that's probably just me xD

  17. I'm not so keen on Porefessional because of the silicone feel. I love the Laura Mercier one - it's just like a moisturiser xx

  18. I love the loreal primer and I use it almost every day, i quite like how it feels on the skin but I would really like to try a PIXI primer. I've always been really impressed by their products and it sounds like it would be good for the pores on my nose!

  21. I don't usually wear primers. I feel like my skin holds foundation in place pretty well on it's own, maybe because it's a bit on the dry side. Having said that, whenever I want my makeup to last longer, Porefessional is my guy. Great stuff. x

  28. I've never tried anything by pixi! I'm a bit of a primer fanatic, although recently I've actually found that some products which aren't marketed as primers work great too - I'm currently loving the Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Reviver as a base under my makeup - it keeps everything looking glowy and gives a great smooth finish!

  29. I love the sound of them BUT I have tried the professional and didn't really get on with it - I felt like it made my skin look worse and shiny throughout the day but I'm trying a couple of primers now which are great and have reviews on them soon! :)

I would love to try Pixi and L'Oreal…they would be my picks! :)
