- The *new* Side Braid...

My hair tutorials in the past have proved to be quite popular with you lovelies, so today I've decided to show you the side braid I've been sporting recently. This braid combines Dutch & French plaits. For those of you who don't know, Dutch plaiting is where you place each section underneath eachother, instead of over like in a normal plait, and French plaiting is where you add sections in. Read below to see how to achieve this style...

1. Brush through hair so it's knot-free, I used my trusty Tangle Teezer, then gather all hair to the side where you want your braid...

2. Grab a section of hair from the middle, not too thick...

3. Now start braiding! Remember, plait underneath and add sections in on both sides. The size of the sections you add in is entirely up to you, I prefer bigger chunks for a messier look, and make sure you pick sections from the back and bring them round...

4. Once you've plaited all of your hair, secure with a hair tie...

5. For the finished look, loosen the sections you added & messen the braid up a bit...

& ta-da...

Let me know what you think of this hairstyle! Will you be giving it a go?

  1. This is so gorgeous, I love braids! But I'm absolutely terrible at them, in general I'm just not great when it comes to doing anything with my hair. I've always wanted to grow my hair just so I can do things like this but as soon as it gets long I realise how bad I am with hairstyles of any kind and I just chop it off again haha x
