- Ombré Nail Art Tutorial...

Recently, I've been wanting to experiment a bit more with subtle nail art and have been loving this ombré effect. For this look, you will need three nail shades that graduate in tone, a clear top coat and a make up sponge wedge. As you can see, I've opted for a blue theme and used Nails Inc. in Optic Wave, and Barry M Nail Paints in 306 Pale Blue & 291 Cobalt blue. To create this look, follow the steps below.

1. First of all, grab your palest shade and apply two coats for your base...

2. Next is where the make up sponge comes in! Starting with the same shade you used for your base and gradually getting darker, paint a stripe across, as shown in the image below. Overlap your strokes a bit in order to prevent harsh lines forming on your nails...

3. Line your nail up and then dab the sponge a few times, to form your first layer...

4. Once that layer is dry, line your sponge up again and instead of dabbing, use a stamping motion...

5. If any harsh lines are still present, dab the sponge a bit more. Basically, it's up to you how blended in you'd like it so just keep on adding layers with the sponge. Also, don't worry about any mess on the side of your nails as you can easily remove it later using a cotton bud & some nail polish remover...

6. Once your nail art is dry, clean up those edges and finish off the look with a clear top coat. This should also help things blend in a bit...

I really like how simple yet lovely this nail effect looks, especially for Summer! It can also be carried out with different colours if you use a white base coat!

What do you think? Will you be giving it a go?
