- Curls WITHOUT Heat...

Bit of a weird one today but hear me out. So you're after natural looking curls but fed up of sitting with a curling tong attached to your head or twirling straighteners in a funky manner in order to achieve that curl, not to mention stocking up on heat defence products. Well fear not mon petit pois, as this method requires no heat at all!

You will need:
- 2-4 socks (depending on the thickness of your hair).
- That is all.

1. Yes that's right, socks. Preferably clean ones as I doubt anyone's after musty foot scented hair? So here's how to achieve the look...

2. Section hair by forming a rough centre parting, if you have fine hair these two sections will be fine. If you have thick hair like me, section each half further into top and bottom halves.
3. Grab a section and twist all the way down.
4. Place a sock horizontally on top of the end of your twisted section and roll up.
5. Once you've neared the root (or wherever you want your curls to begin), tie each end of the sock together. This should secure the rolled up section of hair.
6. Repeat for all secions. Then wait a few hours...

et voilĂ !

After a few hours your hair will be curled, but for best results leave overnight. A positive is that unlike rollers, this method really doesn't cause discomfort whilst sleeping.

As well as avoiding heat damage to your hair, this method is effective and perfect for those occasions where you have no access to heat appliances, such as festivals or backpacking. I know what you're all thinking, 'Erm Karen, you have socks in your hair? My view on this is to accept the fact you look slightly ridiculous and to embrace the silliness. Just think of the benefits for your hair! Further, it's great when meeting new people... 'Oooh how did you do those lovely curls?!' 'Oh yano, just some socks'... & a friendship is born.

I wonder if this will catch on and whether the Desperate Scousewives will ditch their rollers and be seen wandering the streets of Liverpool like this instead? Let me know what you think about this method and if you will try it!

  13. This tutorial is greeeeeeat! ♥ I love messy curls, but my hair is damaged enough and I always try to avoid heat. This is super easy and, as you said, doesn't cause discomfort whilst sleeping. I'm going to try it for sure :)

  16. I've totally tried this, but I didn't know how to control my curls and I think my hair is too layered to do this. I ended up looking like a poodle. Looks great on you though!
